Blackened iron, make it shine with these 2 ingredients: you have them at home

Continued use of the iron can cause dirt and limescale to form on the soleplate, which could stain your clothes and make ironing less effective. But how do you clean the blackened iron on the iron? Not everyone knows this, but there is a very useful trick. That is what it is.

Ironing  is not the most pleasant thing to do at home, especially for the laziest, when the iron becomes less smooth and  the plate turns black  , everything becomes even more tragic.

It may happen that  our iron is damaged by dirt and lime  , the soleplate may turn black and stop sliding smoothly over the clothes to be ironed. Maintenance is therefore necessary and here is how to clean it.

Not everyone knows, in fact, that there are  two very simple ingredients to find at home  that magically manage to remove all the black from the iron plate.

These are  toothpaste and baking soda  : but how do they clean the iron?

First of all, take our iron, turn it on the side of the plate and  sprinkle the toothpaste evenly.

Once finished,  sprinkle a little baking soda on  top, making the coverage on the stains even. Now, let it  act for at least 5-10 minutes  , after which  remove the patina that has formed  with a scottex or cloth: you will see that the blackheads will have completely disappeared.

Then wipe with a damp cloth and dry well. Your iron will be like new. But there are also other effective natural ingredients to clean it, let’s see which ones.

Other natural ingredients to clean the iron

The iron plate can also be cleaned with other ingredients,  in addition to those already suggested above.

In fact, ice can be  very useful for removing buildup of dirt or rust on the plate. When the griddle is perfectly cool, place it in a baking dish filled with ice cubes, leaving it there for ten minutes.

The dirty part will have hardened and with a plastic object, a spatula or a stick, try to peel it off. Using baking soda and vinegar, then wash the plate and remove any residue.

To descale and clean the iron,  salt and vinegar are excellent together. Mix one part vinegar with one part salt in a saucepan. Heat the mixture until the vinegar boils. With this mixture you must cover the cold plate of the iron, spreading it with a cloth or sheets of newspaper.

Rub well until the stains and dirt that we want to eradicate completely disappear  : you will see that your iron will be like new again.
