Ingredients
1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup grated Asian pear (with juice)
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the fruit base by peeling and grating half of an Asian pear until you have 1/2 cup of pulp and juice.
Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and brown sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 3: Add the grated Asian pear, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the soy sauce mixture and stir well.
Step 4: Pour in the toasted sesame oil and add the black pepper, whisking to emulsify the oil into the sauce.
Step 5: Fold in the thinly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.
Step 6: Transfer the finished Bulgogi Sauce Recipe to a jar and let it rest for 30 minutes before using as a marinade for your choice of protein.
Notes
For the best results, marinate beef for at least 4 hours or overnight. If you cannot find Asian pear, use a sweet apple like Gala or Fuji.
