A festive, incredibly easy-to-make treat perfect for holidays, featuring a delightful crunch from crackers and a mix of sweet candies and chocolate. This no-bake (after a quick bake for the toffee) recipe is ideal for gifting or holiday platters.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes (plus cooling time)
  • Yield: Approximately 24 servings (about 2 lbs)

Ingredients

1 sleeve (about 40 crackers) saltine crackers or Ritz crackers
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, added with chocolate)
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk, dark, or white chocolate)
1/2 cup festive sprinkles
1/2 cup miniature M&M's or chopped regular M&M's
1/4 cup crushed candy canes
1/2 cup crushed pretzels (optional, for extra crunch)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet (about 10x15 inches) with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This is crucial for easy removal later.
Step 2: Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, covering the entire surface as much as possible without overlapping. This forms the base of your Christmas Candy Crunch.
Step 3: In a medium saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the butter is completely melted and the sugar has dissolved. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil and continue to boil for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly. This creates the perfect toffee layer.
Step 4: Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers, ensuring every cracker is coated. Use a heat-proof spatula to spread it if needed. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbling vigorously and slightly darkened. Watch it closely to prevent burning.
Step 5: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee-coated crackers. Let them sit for 5 minutes to melt, then gently spread the melted chocolate with a spatula until it forms a smooth layer over the entire surface.
Step 6: While the chocolate is still wet, generously sprinkle your chosen festive toppings – sprinkles, M&M's, crushed candy canes, and crushed pretzels – over the chocolate layer. Gently press them down lightly to ensure they adhere.
Step 7: Allow the Christmas Candy Crunch to cool completely at room temperature for at least 2 hours, or speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator for about 30-60 minutes. Once fully set and hard, carefully lift the parchment paper and break the large sheet into irregular pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

For best results, store your Christmas Candy Crunch in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Can be made ahead for holiday parties.
