Ingredients
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-processed recommended)
1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk (or milk of choice)
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
2 cups ice cubes
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whipped cream, for topping
Chocolate shavings or mini marshmallows, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Combine cocoa, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Whisk in 1/2 cup of the whole milk until smooth, forming a paste.
Step 2: Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly and sugar is fully dissolved (about 2-3 minutes). Do not boil. Remove from heat. This creates a rich chocolate syrup for your Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe.
Step 3: Pour the warm chocolate syrup into a blender. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, ice cubes, and vanilla extract.
Step 4: Blend on high speed until completely smooth and slushy, scraping down the sides as needed. The consistency should be thick, similar to a milkshake.
Step 5: Divide the Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe mixture evenly into two chilled glasses.
Step 6: Top generously with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and mini marshmallows, or your favorite toppings. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe!
Notes
For an extra rich flavor, you can use a high-quality chocolate bar (about 2 oz), melted and added to the warm milk mixture in Step 2. Adjust sugar to your preference; the sweetened condensed milk already adds considerable sweetness.
