It happens that you find yellow streaks on the walls of the toilet and try in vain to remove them with cleaning products. Instead, the method to remove them is different and all you need are two ingredients that you can find in the pantry.
The toilet is a place full of bacteria and often it becomes very difficult to clean it well, especially when yellow streaks form on the walls where the water flows. These are unsightly and make the bathroom look sloppy and shabby. Usually the classic cleaning products available are not that effective and there are natural remedies that are much better.
Yellow streaks in the toilet: how to get rid of them
The yellow streaks that appear on toilets are mainly caused by limescale deposits. These do not look pleasant and make the toilet appear dirty and unclean. One of the most effective methods is to use two ingredients from the kitchen. These are baking soda and vinegar.
The combination of these two, which are excellent allies in household chores, will make the yellow streaks disappear and have a toilet like new. What you need to do is sprinkle the interior walls of the toilet with baking soda and then spray some vinegar over them. In order for both to take effect, leave it on for a whole night and then scrub thoroughly with the toilet brush.
Other methods of cleaning the toilet and especially the yellow streaks
But vinegar and bicarbonate are not the only methods, as other substances can also be used that remove unsightly yellow streaks from the toilet. Here are some remedies that always rely on products found at home and do not rely on classic supermarket products:
- Citric acid : Simply prepare a solution of 150g of citric acid and 1L of very hot water. Allow it to dissolve well without burning yourself, then pour the solution into a spray bottle. The heat of the water activates the acid and its functions. And if you spray it on the streaks and leave it for a few hours, you will notice that yellow streaks no longer appear after rubbing with the toilet brush. However, it is important not to use this method on marble and natural stone.
- Lemon and vinegar : This is an easier and less dangerous combination than citric acid. Simply add 2 glasses of vinegar and the juice of two lemons to a spray bottle. Then spray on the strips and leave to work overnight. Then scrub with a toilet brush and rinse. The spots will no longer be there. However, it is important not to use this method on marble and natural stone.
- Salt : Just put some coarse salt on the strips and try to hold them in place. Then leave it overnight, scrub with a toilet brush and flush. The salt counteracts the hardness of the water and is even an excellent ally against limescale deposits in the washing machine or dishwasher.
- Hydrogen peroxide : The latter can be used alone or with bicarbonate for a stronger effect. Simply pour baking soda onto the yellow toilet strips and then pour 3% hydrogen peroxide over them. A foam is created, which you then scrub with the brush. Hydrogen peroxide is excellent for whitening and when combined with bicarbonate the result is guaranteed.
