An incredibly easy, no-bake layered dessert featuring a moist yellow cake base, creamy cream cheese, smooth vanilla pudding, and a light whipped topping. This Heaven on Earth Cake is a crowd-pleaser for any occasion, offering a refreshing and decadent experience.

  • Total Time: 5 hours 30 minutes (includes chilling)
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare cake
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 (16 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed and divided
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
3 cups cold milk

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package directions in a 9x13 inch baking pan. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, use the handle of a wooden spoon or a fork to poke holes all over the cake.
Step 2: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until well combined. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping until no streaks remain.
Step 3: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top of the poked cake base, ensuring it gets into some of the holes.
Step 4: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mixes with the cold milk for approximately 2 minutes, or until the mixture begins to thicken. Make sure to whisk thoroughly to prevent lumps.
Step 5: Carefully pour the thickened vanilla pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer, gently spreading it to form an even layer.
Step 6: Spread the remaining half of the thawed whipped topping over the vanilla pudding layer, covering the entire surface of the Heaven on Earth Cake.
Step 7: Cover the pan loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the Heaven on Earth Cake to set completely and for the flavors to meld beautifully. This chilling time is crucial for the layers to firm up.
Step 8: Cut into squares and serve your delightful Heaven on Earth Cake chilled. Garnish with fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of toasted coconut if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure all dairy ingredients (cream cheese, milk) are cold for the pudding layer, but the cream cheese for the cream cheese layer should be softened. The longer you chill this Heaven on Earth Cake, the better the flavors will meld and the firmer the layers will be.
