Homemade trick to soften chickpeas in an instant

Coming from the Mediterranean basin or Western Asia, in the absence of being able to determine the true origin of chickpeas,   no one can stop thinking about the formidable properties that these small legumes have and how tasty they transform our meals.

There are four of the best-known varieties,   among which is the Castilian, round and yellowish in color. The white one is more elongated and thick and the Veinosa is thick and elongated. All with a very rich and special flavor to accompany and make our meals. Stews, casseroles, for cold summer meals, as well as for winter. Today they are sold in dry bags so we can cook them.

For those cases in which we already know that our dried chickpeas must be soaked for at least twelve hours,   we give you this trick so that our newly purchased chickpeas soften much faster.

What do we need:

  • 1 bag of chickpeas
  • amount of water needed
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Microwave oven

Preparation:

  1. Place the dried chickpeas in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Cover them with water   until it exceeds the volume of the chickpeas.
  3. Cover them with plastic or a thick towel.
  4. Microwave for 18 minutes  .
  5. It is advisable   to stop cooking halfway through cooking and check that the chickpeas have water   and if they have softened enough.
  6. The time it takes for them to soften sufficiently always depends on the microwave, so we recommend that you check their condition again before the programmed time ends.
  7. Once soft, you have to remove them from the microwave and always be very careful because they will be very hot.
  8. Now place your   chickpeas in the blender glass, add a pinch of salt and also add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  9. Keep mixing these ingredients until they come together, forming a smooth and extremely rich paste.
