How to clean and polish tiles?

Do you want to clean your dirty and oxidized tiles? Do you want him to regain all the shine and splendor of him, as if he were brand new? It’s possible !

To remove tiles it is not necessary to use expensive chemicals. My grandmother was a house fairy. She had her secrets for removing stains and making any terracotta tile, white or black, shine and shine.

1 – LINSEED OIL TO MAKE DOUBLE TILES SHINE

Some materials need to be nourished and therefore become less shiny. This is especially true for terracotta, concrete and even ceramic tiles. And among all the natural ingredients, linseed oil is undoubtedly the most suitable for nourishing these plates! Be careful though: a few drops on a clean cloth will be enough to make the tiles shine without turning them into an ice rink. So, be light and let the oil soak into the floor well as it dries. You can then reapply if necessary.

2 – POTATO COOKING WATER

During cooking, do not throw away the cooking water from the boiled potatoes. Use it to clean tiles instead. The starch present in this solution absorbs the fat attached to the surface. This operation is recommended once a month to maintain the shine of the tiles.

3 – BLACK SOAP IS A NATURAL PRODUCT FOR MULTI-SURFACE CARE

If black soap is an essential ingredient for fans of the D system it is because it is an exceptional detergent. The reason: it is a degreaser and disinfectant suitable for tiles, linoleum but also parquet. Its advantage is that it not only cleans dirty and dusty floors but also gives a touch of shine that you cannot do without. To benefit from the effects of this mixture of oil and black olives, you will need to mix it with a liter of water poured into a bucket. If you want to have a spotless home, grab a mop and gently scrub the floor. Magical, right?

4 – WHITE VINEGAR

The most common method to make tiles shine is to use white vinegar. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Directly into the washing water: When preparing your usual washing water, pour 4 tablespoons of white vinegar into the bucket and then mop it. For the maintenance of your floor, discover all our tips for cleaning your tiles correctly here.
  2. After cleaning: After cleaning the tiles, prepare a bucket with warm water. Pour one or two glasses of white vinegar depending on the amount of water. Then polish with a rag or sponge. It is also possible to complete the preparation by adding bicarbonate of soda.

5 – CHOOSE LEMON TO POLISH YOUR TILES

Once the tiles have been cleaned, there is one last step left to make them shine: polishing.

To do this, nothing could be simpler: soak a sponge or brush in lemon juice and leave for an hour. Lemon will restore all its shine to dirty and dull tiles with the added bonus of a nice scent!

Finally, to finish a tiled worktop, you can use a deerskin.

6 – LIQUID SOAP

If the tiles are very stained, just add a few drops of a product that does not attack the concrete joints, such as liquid hand soap or dishwashing liquid.

And nothing else! Furthermore, the cloth must be damp and not dripping with water! Dry with another dry microfiber cloth.
