Depending on the type of water in your area, you may have stains on your tiles and scale build-up problems in your faucets, especially in the shower. This is caused by the large amount of minerals that water contains. Once evaporated, it leaves white and green residues of calcium and magnesium. Over time, these deposits harden and become difficult to remove.
It is true that there are products to remove stains and lime deposits, but these products have components that can be toxic and cause skin reactions. It is better to use natural products that we have at home. In this way, we will not take risks with toxicity and at the same time we will not have big expenses to leave the bathroom as new.
Next, I will tell you how to remove stains and lime buildup with vinegar. It is more than just a dressing, and it has multiple uses in household cleaning.
Before using vinegar
I suggest you run the hot water in the shower and close the bathroom door for about ten minutes. This will create a scorching atmosphere that will soften the dirt and make your job easier.
If you have a hand-held shower, you can use it to spray the tiles, and with a cloth gently scrub. This should loosen and remove stains and dirt.
apply vinegar
In a container with a sprayer or atomizer, mix half of the vinegar alcohol and half of the water. Apply the solution on the tiles and joints and leave it for about half an hour.
After a while, use a white bristle brush to scrub the tiles and joints. Do not use pumice stones or wire brushes. When finished, turn on the hot shower and rinse the tiles.
Cleaning up limescale build-up
Getting rid of limescale and scale in the bathroom is not only good for keeping the bathroom beautiful, free of those white and green stains, but also helps prevent limescale from clogging the shower.
Soak a rag in vinegar and wrap it around the faucet and tap. Leave it there for an hour. Then clean with water. If you want to enhance the effect of vinegar, mix it with lemon juice.
How to prevent plaque build-up
The best solution is to prevent tartar from building up and hardening. Here are some suggestions.
Clean regularly. If you do this, you won’t get stains, scale and the performance of the faucet will improve.
Keep things dry as much as possible. Obviously, you can’t dry everything all the time, but wiping it down after each use will greatly reduce stains and scale.
Use a soap that leaves less residue in the shower.
