Cooking is one of the most relaxing activities of the day, at least for many of us, but the same cannot be said about the work that follows, i.e. cleaning the kitchen. From oil splashes to food residues , if they are not cleaned immediately, they risk hardening and becoming very difficult to remove.
Below we suggest a new method to thoroughly clean and polish the entire kitchen . This is the well-known degreasing stone , a product which, although little known, is one of the most effective and allows us to clean the kitchen effortlessly.
The degreasing stone is a completely ecological and biodegradable cleaning product , effective against dirt, grease and food residues, but also excellent for polishing metal surfaces (such as taps or sinks), tiles and joints.
How is the degreasing stone prepared?
Although you can buy it at craft markets or specialized shops, the degreasing stone can also be prepared at home and is much simpler than you might imagine.
Ingredients:
- 40 grams of white clay
- 15 grams of grated castile soap
- 40 ml of water
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 20 drops of lemon essential oil.
Melt the Castile soap in a bain-marie and, once all the lumps have dissolved, add the clay and the baking soda, mixing until all the ingredients are integrated together.
Gradually pour in the white vinegar and drops of lemon oil. Do this very slowly to contain the effervescent reaction.
Once you have obtained a consistency similar to that of a cream, let the mixture dry until it solidifies. To do this, pour it into a container with a lid and let it rest for 2-3 days. The stone will be ready when it is completely solidified.
How is the degreasing stone used?
Using the degreasing stone is very simple. You need a damp sponge or cloth to rub on the stone until you get a white foam. Use the cloth or sponge to clean all surfaces, then use a clean cloth to dry and remove residue.
You will see how grease, dirt and food residues will come away very easily and your kitchen will be very clean and shiny.
