Our grandmothers knew more than the devil! They had to make a virtue of necessity, so they had many fewer comforts at their disposal than today. Being used to having needle threaders that can be purchased in haberdashery, we have lost a bit of the ability to make do.

A method to have your own needle threader

Yet, it is sufficient to take up old popular knowledge to discover a truly effective and economical method . This is provided that you already have the few elements necessary to carry out the job. This can be a nice idea to practice with your young children, if you have any. At an early age, they love creating things with their little hands.

In addition to being useful, the idea allows you to spend some time in company. Unfortunately, we spend less and less time between work and school. A simple idea will allow you to relate. Obviously, to make the needle threader with children we warmly invite you to carefully follow every single step. Overwhelmed by enthusiasm, they risk, in fact, stinging themselves if you don’t remain vigilant about the situation.

As the word itself says, needle threaders help thread sewing thread . We use it perhaps because we don’t see each other much, but above all because of the rush . You’ll get to the bottom of it here in no time.

The method that we are now going to illustrate requires very few materials, namely:

  • a thin steel wire;
  • a bottle cap;
  • scissors (or cutter);
  • some glue (optional).

Take the bottle cap and make a small cut in the crown with scissors (or cutter). Cut a small piece of steel wire (thin gauge) and make a loop. After that, place it in the cap slot you just made, with the eyelet on the outside.

If necessary, add a little glue to hold everything in place. Then insert the eyelet into the eye of the needle and the sewing thread: that’s it! The needle will be threaded in the blink of an eye. You will be able to keep the accessory obtained in your sewing box, together with the other tools of the trade.
