How to polish marble chips

Marble gravel floors have been very popular in Italy for the last few decades. They were very common in our grandmothers’ houses, since they were a cheaper alternative to other types of materials.

Although they have gone out of fashion, marble chip floors are still present in our homes, and retain   great charm   , especially when they are original and old.

Not to mention that marble chips are also very resistant to impacts and wear. Our grandparents were right to prefer it.

The only drawback of this type of floor is that it tends to   lose its classic shine   . But fear not: It’s possible to  deep clean and polish  floors with marble chips using all-natural ingredients.

Below we offer you two effective remedies to have   very shiny marble chip floors   , as if they were new.

natural detergent

Baking soda is abrasive enough to remove dirt without scratching the floor. Mixing it with alcohol and Marseille soap makes a perfect detergent for marble aggregate floors.

Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 10 tablespoons of alcohol and 1 tablespoon of liquid castile soap.

Once you have a homogeneous mixture, dip a cloth in it and wipe it over the entire floor. After about 5 minutes, rinse with a cloth moistened with warm water and wrung well.

Repeat the application several times until you get a completely shiny floor.

Use only denatured alcohol.

This remedy is as simple as it is effective. Simply pour 5 tablespoons of denatured alcohol into a bucket full of warm water and use the solution to clean the floor as usual.

No need to rinse.
