Over time, glass jars acquire a cloudy color or whitish spots due to lime deposits present in the water. The first option is to throw them away, stop using them or throw them in the trash, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Before purchasing new glasses, try to remove the white patina and restore their original shine using the economical and environmentally friendly methods detailed below.
Although the presence of lime in the water we use to wash glasses is the main cause of the formation of this white film , there are also other factors that can cause it, such as: B. incorrect use of the dishwasher or excessive use of dishwasher detergent .
1. Salt and lemon
Rub the inside of the glass with half a lemon. Use a little force, but be careful not to break the glass. The lemon gradually removes the lime from the glass.
Immediately afterwards, add a pinch of salt to the jar and spread it over the entire interior surface. Rub with lemon again to ensure all limescale is removed. When you’re done, wash the glass with water and a little dish soap and dry it well.
2. Sprayer
Pour two generous tablespoons of baking soda, a tablespoon of salt, and some hot water into the jar. Leave it on for about 30 minutes.
This combination eliminates lime deposits on the glass. Remember to wash the glass with dish soap and water before drying and storing it.
3. White vinegar
Another simple and effective way to remove limescale is with a solution of white vinegar and water.
Fill a container with two equal parts of vinegar and water, submerge the jars in it and let them soak for a few hours. If necessary, you can even leave the jars overnight.
Finally, rinse and wash the glasses and then dry them well before storing them.
4. Toothpaste
Put a little toothpaste in the glass and spread it over the entire surface. After a few minutes, rinse the glass well with water and detergent, dry it well and store it.
If none of the solutions to remove the white film from the lenses worked, it is likely that the problem cannot be solved and in this case the only option is to replace them with new lenses.
