How to whiten your yellowed kit and make it look like new again

The trousseau is a tradition handed down from generation to generation, and is still put into practice in many areas of our country. This custom has an important value for many of us, but it can happen that the kit tends to turn yellow , especially when it is stored for very long periods of time.

So what to do to whiten the kit and make it look like new again ? The good news is that there are very quick and completely natural tricks for recovering a yellowed kit even if it has been kept in the closet for years and years.

Below we list the most effective remedies for whitening your outfit and making it look like new again .

Sodium percarbonate

This method is one of the most effective for whitening your outfit while avoiding bleach (which can damage it).

This white powder is particularly useful against yellow stains, which are the most common on white kit.

Pour a scoop of sodium percarbonate into a bucket full of very hot water, needed to activate the percarbonate. Immerse the kit in it and leave it in the solution for 3-4 hours. Finally, rinse with plenty of water.

White vinegar

Add 100ml of white vinegar to your laundry detergent and run a normal wash cycle.

Vinegar will help remove yellowish stains from white laundry, and you don’t have to worry about the strong smell – it will fade away as soon as the laundry is completely dry.

Lemon juice

Squeeze 10 lemons into a bucket full of hot water, then add a glass of salt and mix well until it dissolves completely.

Immerse the white kit in the solution and let it soak overnight. The next day, rinse it well and wash it as normal.

Cream of tartar

It is a leavening agent that is also particularly useful for whitening white laundry.

Pour a sachet of cream of tartar into a bucket full of hot water and leave the white kit to soak in it overnight. The next morning wash the kit as normal.
