3-4 medium ripe bananas, sliced 1/4-inch thick

Instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk and optional vanilla extract for 2-3 minutes, until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes to thicken further.
Step 2: Place a single layer of Nilla wafers at the bottom of 6 individual parfait glasses or small bowls.
Step 3: Arrange a layer of sliced bananas over the wafers, pressing them gently against the sides of the glass for an attractive presentation.
Step 4: Spoon approximately 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the prepared vanilla pudding over the bananas, spreading it evenly.
Step 5: Repeat the layers: add another layer of Nilla wafers, followed by sliced bananas, and then another layer of pudding. Continue until the glasses are full, typically 2-3 layers of each component, ending with a pudding layer.
Step 6: Cover each parfait with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.
Step 7: Just before serving, garnish each No-Bake Banana Pudding Parfait with a dollop of whipped cream and a few crushed Nilla wafers or an extra banana slice.
Notes
For best results, make these parfaits ahead of time to allow ample chilling. The wafers will soften to a cake-like consistency, which is part of the charm of traditional banana pudding. You can make your own whipped cream by whisking 1 cup of heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
