Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (or 1 vanilla bean, scraped)
- 1 ½ cups buttermilk, at room temperature
- For the Buttercream Frosting:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (or seeds from ½ vanilla bean)
- 2-4 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
