A vibrant, 4-ingredient Strawberry Sauce Recipe that is perfect for topping cheesecakes, pancakes, and ice cream.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1.5 cups

Ingredients

1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Step 2: Stir the mixture occasionally as it comes to a simmer. The sugar will dissolve and the berries will begin to release their juices.
Step 3: Once simmering, use a potato masher or a fork to crush about half of the strawberries to create a thicker consistency for your Strawberry Sauce Recipe.
Step 4: Continue to simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and reached your desired consistency.
Step 5: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using. Let the sauce cool before serving or storing.

Notes

If the sauce is too thin, you can mix 1 tsp of cornstarch with 1 tsp of water and stir it into the simmering sauce to thicken it further.
