The ingenious trick to make the bathtub as clean as the first day

Cleaning the house always requires extra effort, especially when dirt and germs accumulate in the various elements and appliances. The tub in particular is often susceptible to black spots, bacteria and germs that develop over time. The cause: traces of soap or products used regularly in the bathroom, limestone, hair clogging the pipes, mold stains, etc. No wonder your bathtub sometimes looks gloomy!

Of course, this can be problematic and even harmful to our health and hygiene since we still spend a lot of time there. The bathtub is a temple of relaxation and well-being. It is also the place where we groom ourselves, the place where we frequently wash our bodies and hair. Sanitary hygiene should therefore be impeccable in order to avoid possible skin aggression. The solution? Just a good cleaning. It is better to care for it regularly so that dirt or limescale residues do not become permanently encrusted.

To prevent dirt from accumulating in the bathtub, there are of course special products on the market. However, the latter have chemical components that can attack and damage the coatings of the bathtub over time. We can never prove it enough, there is nothing better than using natural and organic products.

To make your bathtub shine, here are some simple, effective and economical tips.

You will need:

  • bleaching
  • lemon juice
  • White wine vinegar
  • baking powder
  • ammonia
  • Cleaning gloves
  • A brush, a cloth and a sponge

Do you often notice yellowish stains or rust in certain corners of your bathtub? It is an alarm bell that warns you of lack of cleaning and lack of ventilation. To get rid of these   yellow spots   and limescale deposits, there is a very popular and very effective remedy: the mixture of baking soda and white vinegar. These two natural ingredients are indeed powerful cleansers. Limescale remover, rust remover, descaler, bleach… to take care of your bathtub, you can rely on this amazing duo!
Pour a large amount of baking soda over the entire tub. Then, use a spray bottle to spray white vinegar onto the baking soda-covered parts. You will notice that the two products react by forming a white foam, which is completely normal! Leave on for about 30 minutes. Then use a sponge or soft brush to scrub the dirty areas. Rinse the entire surface with cold water. Don’t forget to open the doors and windows to let it dry naturally. Now clean and shiny, your bathtub can finally breathe!

ammonia

The big problem with shower walls is not dirt, but limescale that builds up over time. To identify limescale deposits, you will notice white or dull spots that do not go away. This also includes the tiles, the shower fittings and the bathtub.

To remove these limescale stains, opt for ammonia. Also very popular for home care, it is an excellent cleaner and disinfectant that will get rid of all crusted stains and yellowed tooth enamel.

Add 2 glasses of ammonia and 2 cups of hot water to a spray bottle. Shake it and spray it on all calcified parts. Then let the product sit for 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off with a cloth or sponge. Finally, rinse thoroughly with cold water. Here too, make sure that the windows and doors are open to eliminate the strong smell of ammonia.

If your bathtub is full of limescale   ,  we recommend the valuable mixture of white vinegar with salt. The fusion of the two will perfectly help clean the calcified areas of the bathtub. Coarse salt is well known to our grandmothers as a cleaning, disinfecting and degreasing agent. The same goes for lemon: this citrus fruit has surprising benefits to brighten and descale the different areas of the house. Not to mention, it also eliminates bad mold smells and lets a fresh and fragrant scent escape into the room.

Pour two cups of white vinegar, one cup of hot water, and the lemon juice into a spray bottle. Also add 3 tablespoons of salt and mix the ingredients. You can permanently remove limescale with this homemade cleaner. Simply pour it onto the tub and use a brush to scrub.
For even more efficiency, rely on hydrogen peroxide, which is also powerful when cleaning and descaling. You can use it to remove limestone and yellow stains from the bathtub. Simply spray on and leave for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. You don’t even need to scrub to get a shiny result!

hydrochloric acid

To get rid of all the dirt, you can rely on hydrochloric acid. This colorless watery liquid is known for descaling and disinfecting sanitary facilities. But be careful, as it is a caustic product with a very strong smell, it must be used with great caution. It is better not to use it as a last resort if your bathtub is really very dirty. Don’t forget to dilute it with water before applying, wear gloves and a mask and, above all, ventilate the bathroom!

Preparation

Add 1 glass of cold water and 2 drops of hydrochloric acid to a plastic jar and stir well.

Apply the mixture to the dirtiest areas of the tub with a brush or brush and leave for a few minutes.

Then scrub with a cleaning brush and rinse thoroughly with cold water.
