Socks, especially those worn by athletes, can get stains that are difficult to remove. Fortunately, there is a home remedy. Let’s see which one.
Just a few natural ingredients are enough to remove even the toughest stains from socks.
Dirty socks, what a problem!
Raise your hand if you’ve never had to deal with tough stains on your socks! It is impossible not to have struggled with some brown stains on your children’s socks or stockings. Athletes, hikers, but also children who like to go barefoot run the risk of getting their socks irreparably dirty. Although we have many in the laundry drawer, we certainly can’t throw away a few a day.
However, after machine washing, even at high temperatures, the socks may not come out as white as before. It can be the same if you do a pretreatment: the stains may not disappear, quite the opposite. So let’s look at a method that will make our socks look new again and, above all, save us time and money, which we spend on the often unnecessary chemicals that we usually use.
How to fix it
The ingredients you will need to clean your dirty socks quickly can be found in every kitchen and are very inexpensive. In fact, it is a star ingredient in home maintenance or baking soda that is known for its whitening, sanitizing and anti-odor power. Another ingredient is white wine vinegar which, combined with baking soda , has great degreasing power.
In a container, put half a liter of hot water. Add one tablespoon of baking soda and one tablespoon of dish soap . Again, you will need two tablespoons of white wine vinegar and one teaspoon of fine salt . Mix the ingredients well.
Once the items have melted, insert the dirty socks into the container using a glove. Soak them for about two hours. After the soaking time has passed, take out the socks and you will immediately see how they have returned to their original pure white.
Then you can wash the socks as usual, by hand or with the classic washing machine. You can also apply this method to very dirty clothes, so that they are as white as new. If it is very delicate garments, we advise you to test the remedy on a small part of the fabric and then proceed to completely immerse the garment in question.
After trying this remedy, you will not be afraid of any stain and we are sure that you will always use it, even for other quite dirty clothes. The remedy, in fact, also works on difficult stains such as mud and grass.
