Clean and shiny blinds after the rain: the method never before revealed

Shutters are one of the parts of the house that get the most dirty after it rains. Not only do they accumulate dust and dirt, but some of the residue left by the passage of rain is deposited on their surfaces. Here we explain how to make your shutters look like new again.

Dirty shutters after rain – the right way to remove dust

To remove the layer of dust, you can use a broom or electrostatic cloth. You just have to rub from top to bottom and make sure the corners and spaces between the slats are free of dust.

Wool clothing is also recommended for its electrostatic properties. This ensures better dust retention. Old meshes also work.

To make sure you reach the dust under each slat, you can use kitchen tongs like these:

Wrap each side of the clips with a microfiber cloth;
Secure it with a rubber band;
Rub above and below each slat.

Clean and shiny shutters after the rain: the method never revealed

Now we come to the washing phase itself, with which you will get shiny shutters. There is no one-size-fits-all technique for shutters. You must use the appropriate product for each material.

Below we explain how to shine aluminum shutters:

Mix equal parts vinegar and Marseille soap;
Apply it to the shutters with a soft sponge;
Rinse with a cloth soaked in water and that’s it.
For more delicate wooden shutters, proceed as follows:

Pour 2 tablespoons of Marseille soap flakes into a bucket of warm water;
Dip a microfiber cloth into the water;
Take it out and rub the shutters several times;
Let dry.
Finally, to wash plastic or PVC shutters, follow these steps exactly:
Pour 2 tablespoons of Marseille soap into a bucket of water;
Dip a cloth in it and rub the shutters several times;
Rinse with water and that’s it.
