Candle

The candle method is not known to everyone, but it seems to be one of the best remedies for cleaning a burned iron sole.

Will need:

  • a   white candle
  • An old towel or microfiber cloth.
  • an abrasive sponge (optional)
  • Half a lemon (optional)

This is a quick and easy method that will make your iron sole shine.

First, turn on the   iron   and let it heat up completely.

Make sure it is not hot, but hot enough to clean.

Then unplug the iron. Take your candle and start passing it over the hot iron plate. It may be useful to do it on an old cloth to avoid dirtying the surfaces.

You will notice that the wax will melt upon contact with the sole.

Then pass it over the   old towel  , as if you were ironing it.

If the dirt is stubborn, you can use an abrasive sponge. To finish, take half a lemon and rub it on the surface.

Its degreasing properties will polish the sole of the iron.

vinegar and water

This trick is faster and more efficient to clean your iron.

White vinegar has degreasing properties and has a powerful anti-scale action.

Always make sure your iron is unplugged.

Take a container and pour water and vinegar in equal parts. Then add 2 tablespoons of fine salt and stir.

Soak a soft sponge, wring it well and gently rub the iron soleplate until the dirt is removed. Completely remove your natural cleaner and you will notice that your iron is clean!

Marseille soap

You all know the powerful degreasing properties of Marseille soap.

To remove the burn from the iron, simply pass the paste over the heating plate, always being careful not to get dirty.

You can then remove the excess first with a crumpled newspaper, which will absorb everything, and then with a clean, damp cloth.

Lemon

Lemon retains all its degreasing and cleaning properties. Turn on the iron, heat it up, and then unplug it.

Then take half a lemon and rub it all over the surface. For a more degreasing effect, take a sponge, add a few drops of vinegar and wipe the iron.

Otherwise, a little water with dishwashing liquid is also suitable. But everything must be well drained. Rinse well and dry.

Salt

Salt is an excellent natural remedy for cleaning the house, you can also use it to clean burnt iron soleplates.

Place a sheet of parchment paper on the ironing board and sprinkle with salt. Turn on the iron and run it over the salt as if you were ironing it.

Note:   You can also use aluminum foil if you don’t have parchment paper!

Warnings:

Always keep the iron unplugged when cleaning it and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for iron care.
