How to degrease and perfume the oven with a bar of soap

The oven is one of the appliances that is most prone to getting dirty due to its nature. We cook numerous dishes inside it, many of which leave residues of fat that encrust on the walls of the oven and, as time passes, become increasingly difficult to remove.

Not to mention the burning smell that the same residues give off every time the oven is turned on. Degreasing the oven is not just a question of aesthetics, but also of safety and efficiency. An oven full of encrusted grease is less efficient than a perfectly clean one.

Cleaning the oven is not a walk in the park , but it is possible to do it with completely natural ingredients and avoiding industrial degreasers which, although effective, are toxic to our health and polluting the environment.

Below we suggest an effective method for cleaning the oven with Marseille soap . Strange as it may seem, a bar of soap is enough to thoroughly degrease an oven full of encrusted grease .

Clean the inside of the oven

This part of the oven is the one that usually accumulates the most residues of encrusted grease. Proceed with removing the internal grills, which will need to be cleaned separately.

Mix 2 tablespoons of Marseille soap flakes in half a liter of hot water until they dissolve completely. Add 10 drops of lemon essential oil to make the degreaser very fragrant.

Pour the liquid into a bottle fitted with a spray diffuser, and spray all over the inside of the oven. Let the solution sit for a few minutes to allow the soap to soften the grease and make it easier to remove.

Then use a sponge to thoroughly clean the surface and remove all encrustations. Finally, she wipes with a clean cloth to make sure you have removed all residue.

Clean the grates

Marseille soap is also very useful for cleaning grills, which are also subject to the accumulation of grease which is, in this case, even more difficult to eliminate.

Pour two tablespoons of Marseille soap into a basin full of hot water and let it dissolve.

Soak the grates in the basin for 10 minutes, then use a brush or sponge to remove any grease that has become easy to remove.

If necessary, repeat several times until all the fat is eliminated. When you’re done, rinse with running water.
