How to grow rosemary in pots starting from a sprig or seeds

Rosemary is an indispensable plant in our kitchens. Not only is it an important ingredient in a myriad of typical preparations, but it is also extremely rich in therapeutic properties and health benefits.

This wonderful aromatic plant can grow at home in ordinary pots. All it takes are some very simple steps to have a lush and fragrant rosemary plant, and below we list them for you now.

Rosemary is a very hardy plant that can withstand different climates. It is grown from seeds or cuttings.

Get cuttings about 8 inches long, cut preferably in early summer. Choose healthy, green pieces, preferably from a lush plant.

Fill a pot with universal potting soil, but add some stones to improve drainage. Good drainage, preventing waterlogging, is very important for rosemary.

Place the rosemary pot in a well-lit place throughout the day. You can put it both indoors and outdoors-it is a plant that adapts easily to all settings, but it is important that it receives the right amount of light.

Water rosemary only when its potting soil is completely dry. During the warmer months you can increase the frequency of watering, but it is essential to avoid water stagnation, which can cause the roots to rot.

It will take a few months for the plant to grow and become lush. To use it, simply cut off sprigs about 7 to 8 cm long, starting at the tips of the stems and making sure to leave needles at the base of the sprig left on the plant.
