How to have smooth and polished skin with a yeast cake

As of today, brewer’s yeast will no longer be just an essential ingredient for making bread or pizza, but a real cosmetic product. Below we list some beauty tricks that feature brewer’s yeast as the star ingredient.

Brewer’s yeast is obtained from a process of transformation and fermentation of gluten that contains barley, a mineral essential for the processing of the drink. Brewer’s yeast is used to make breads or cakes, but it is also an excellent dietary supplement. Today you will find out how to use it to care for the appearance and health of your skin.

The secret of brewer’s yeast lies in its composition: its high content of protein and B vitamins make it an extraordinary ingredient for regenerating our body tissues, especially skin tissue, nails and hair.

Brewer’s yeast also contains iron, folic acid, minerals such as selenium and zinc, which are essential for our skin. Below we suggest some face mask recipes based on brewer’s yeast.

Classic mask

The recipe for this mask is as simple as it is effective: just dissolve about 10-12 grams of brewer’s yeast in half a glass of warm water.

Put the yeast in the glass first, then add the water little by little as you dissolve the yeast with your fingers. Stop when the mixture has reached a creamy consistency.

Then apply the mixture to your face, avoiding the eye area. Wait for the mask to dry completely (it will take about 15-20 minutes), then rinse with plenty of water and apply moisturizer.

Mask for oily skin

The purifying properties of brewer’s yeast also make it an excellent ally against excess sebum and, consequently, against acne and enlarged pores.

Dissolve a loaf of brewer’s yeast in warm water, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then add the juice of half a lemon.

Apply the mask to your face for 15 minutes, then rinse with plenty of water and apply a moisturizer.

This mask should only be applied during nighttime hours. Lemon is photosensitizing and makes the skin more sensitive to the sun’s rays.

Yeast and yogurt mask

Dissolve 10 grams of brewer’s yeast in a little warm milk, and mix with 50 grams of natural yogurt.

Once you have a smooth mixture, apply it to your face and let it dry for 15 minutes before rinsing.
