How to prepare a disinfectant spray for the mattress: eliminate mites and stains

Changing the sheets and keeping the bed clean is essential to avoid the accumulation of mites and dead cells that pose a risk to our health. But how much attention do you pay to the mattress? In this article we explain how to prepare a  spray to clean the mattress  .

Every night our dead skin cells accumulate on the bed along with dirt, creating a perfect context for the proliferation of  dust mites  . These microscopic organisms are harmful to our health, especially that of those who suffer from asthma or allergies.

Changing the sheets is not enough to  prevent the accumulation of mites  on the mattress, and that is why it is good to clean it frequently.

To refresh your mattress, simply remove the sheets and give it a little shake. But sometimes this may not be enough. Prepare the spray following the recipe below to ensure you have a clean, mite-free mattress.

Ingredients  of mattress disinfectant spray  :

  • 250ml of water
  • 250 ml vinegar
  • 8 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
  • 8 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 8 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • a 500 ml spray bottle (or more)

Pour the water and vinegar into the bottle, then add the essential oils and shake to integrate the ingredients.

Spray directly on the mattress and let it sit for a few hours, allowing it to dry completely before putting the sheets back on.

Vinegar has  natural disinfectant properties  and helps perfume fabrics. Eucalyptus oil  has purifying properties and benefits the skin. Lavender oil  has antibacterial properties and its aroma stimulates sleep, while  peppermint oil  is a very effective natural repellent.
