HOW TO USE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE FOR SWEAT STAINS ON BEDDING

Although  hydrogen peroxide  is not a truly natural remedy, it still has an  ecological approach and can therefore be used  at home  to solve various problems.

This product has  brightening and degreasing  properties and is a godsend for   removing sweat stains from fabrics.

For this reason, today we will see together  how  to use hydrogen peroxide against sweat stains on bedding such as sheets, pillows, mattress covers and mattresses!

What will you discover?

Before it begins

Especially in this  time of scorching heat, we all sweat more in bed at  night  and toss and turn without getting any rest. And here the excess sweat ends up collecting  on the bed linen,  even reaching the mattress and forming  yellow stains  that are not at all nice to look at. In fact, we usually find these  very annoying places:

  • Blatt
  • Pillow
  • mattress cover
  • mattress

But  how can you remove them then?  Very simple, as already mentioned,  just use hydrogen peroxide  , whose whitening function makes this product a good replacement for bleach  .

Here’s how to pre-treat them

First ,  let’s see together  how you can pre-treat these stains with hydrogen peroxide  to act locally on the yellow halo before normal washing.

All you need to do is moisten the  affected area of the sheet  , mattress cover and pillows with drops of hydrogen peroxide, rub gently before drying and  proceeding with washing.  Alternatively, you can  make a DIY whitening paste by mixing 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate with hydrogen peroxide until it forms a  creamy consistency   .

Then apply the mixture to the stain, scrub it with a   soft brush   or toothbrush, let it sit for a while before rinsing it off, and…  goodbye, stains!

Note:  Do not use hydrogen peroxide on colored fabrics as this may cause them to fade.

Hand wash

Once the stains are pretreated,  it’s time to wash our bedding  to completely remove the stain and yellow sweat stain. Of course, you can  proceed with both hand washing and washing in the washing machine.

When washing your hands  , we recommend that you fill a basin with hot water and  add 4 tablespoons   of hydrogen peroxide. For a more effective effect, we recommend that you also  add half a glass of sodium percarbonate  . Now soak your bed linen  in the resulting mixture for a few hours  and… you will find that it is as white and pure as ever!

Machine wash

If, on the other hand, you want to proceed with  washing in the washing machine  ,   you must proceed in this way.

In fact, you need to   add 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide to the detergent drawer,  put the sheets, pillowcases and mattress covers in the basket and set a  medium-high temperature wash cycle  to make these fabrics even whiter. You will never be without this ingredient at home  !

For the mattress

Sweat stains also often form on the mattress  . However, in this case the situation is slightly different because the mattress cannot be washed, but  only spot cleaned  .

But you will be happy to know that  hydrogen peroxide  is also a godsend on the mattress because it helps to make it white again and without yellow stains! However, for a more effective effect, we ask you  to combine it with other ingredients  . So equip yourself with:

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of liquid Marseille soap or in flakes in a water bath

Then mix all the ingredients   in a   bowl with warm water  and then dip a cloth into the resulting mixture. Then apply it to the mattress and  gently rub the sweat stain  several times until it is removed. Finally, let it dry thoroughly, preferably outdoors, and  your mattress will be like new!
