The best trick for hanging colored fabrics in the sun

To dry clothes, the most effective way is to do it in the fresh air, i.e. outdoors. While sunny days are recommended for drying clothes, it is important to note that  UV rays can fade the colors of dyed fabrics  . However, that is no reason to avoid drying outside. You just have to use the right methods.

The best trick for hanging colored fabrics in the sun

The first important rule is to do a good wash. The latter boils down to this:

  • Properly separate white, light, and dark clothing  .
  • Use a  detergent  that  is suitable for colored or delicate clothing.
  • Avoid abrasive products  such as bleach;
  • Choose a  washing temperature between 30 and 40 °C  .

Once the rules of good washing are followed, you can proceed to drying. To do this, turn  the clothes inside out and lay them upside down.  The seams must be visible. This allows the sun’s rays to come into contact with the inside of the garment.

How do you create a shaded area in the drying room?

If you’re lucky enough to have a shady spot, hang your clothes there. If this alternative fails,  you can create one by installing patio umbrellas or a porch.

3. Tip: Avoid drying clothes during hot hours

In summer the hottest hours are between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Remember to  dry clothes  very early in the morning or late afternoon.  At this time the sun is less aggressive.

Reduce sun exposure time

If you have particularly delicate  colored fabrics  , it is recommended to reduce the time in contact with the sun. Therefore, check  the drying progress regularly and remember to remove the textiles as soon as they are dry.
