The perfect trick to remove white patina from glasses

After much use and as much washing, glass glasses are prone to the appearance of an annoying white patina, which makes them dull and makes them lose all their elegance.

This patina is caused by limescale in the water, which accumulates on their surface and, also accomplice to the detergent we use during washing, in the long term causes the glass to lose its shine.

Before you buy shiny new glasses, you can try to recover your dull glasses with some DIY tricks.

The trick we suggest below is definitely the most effective for removing white patina from glassware. To put it into practice you only need two ingredients: salt and lemon.

Rub half a lemon on the inner surface of the glass. Apply some pressure, but be careful not to break the glass. The lemon will help soften the scale.

Immediately afterwards, sprinkle some salt on the inner surface of the glass. Even with salt you will have to rub vigorously, but gently. The salt will further remove the limestone.

This very effective trick may take a few minutes to be totally effective. Once finished, wash the glass with water and dishwashing detergent.

Other effective tricks against white patina on glasses
To achieve a similar result to the trick described above, you can also use baking soda. Pour two generous tablespoons of baking soda, a tablespoon of salt and add warm water to the glass. Wait 30 minutes.

The solution will dissolve the limescale deposited on the surface of the glass. Finally, wash with water and detergent.

Another trick is to prepare a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Dip the glasses in the solution and let them soak for a couple of hours.

Now that you know how to remove the white patina from glasses that are now dull, try applying one of the tricks described above to get them looking like new again.
