IN SUMMER AND WINTER INSECTS CAN INVADE OUR HOMES! THEY ONLY NEED TO FIND THE FAVORITE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEIR SURVIVAL, AS WELL AS A SMALL EXIT TO ENTER, AND THEY WILL SETTLE COMFORTABLY WITH US. SPIDERS ARE ONE OF THE MOST FEARED INSECTS, ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOT ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS. TO KEEP THEM AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE, CHOOSE FOR THESE NATURAL REPELLENTS!

Spiders are insects from the arachnid category. These creatures are usually found in the wild, but they can literally colonize our homes and cause some scares!

In fact, many people fear or hate spiders and are paralyzed by their many legs. Spiders are also the cause of many phobias, although they are harmless and especially useful in homes, because they rid us of mosquitoes, flies and many other insects that they feed on.

However, even knowing the usefulness of spiders, many people cannot tolerate their presence.  That is why they try to get rid of them by opting for insecticides, neglecting the toxicity of these products full of chemicals.

The effectiveness of these products is certainly significant, but the compounds they contain make them a real health hazard.  Insecticides can cause respiratory problems, skin or eye allergies, and can also promote the development of certain types of cancer.

That is why it is advisable to choose natural alternatives to keep spiders away. Below we give you 6 tips to get rid of them without endangering your health or killing these harmless insects.

CITRUS

Spiders can’t stand citrus smells, making it a powerful natural repellent! You can pour a few drops of lemon essential oil in your cupboards and storage rooms. Orange or lemon peels are also effective in repelling these insects. Rub baseboards and windows with it, as well as any other places where spiders tend to hide.

THE CEDAR

Cedar is very effective at repelling spiders. Place cedar blocks in your closets, drawers, and other storage places to keep these insects away.
You can also put cedar mulch outside to keep spiders away.

WHITE VINEGAR

The virtues of vinegar are no longer to be proven. This versatile product is not only used as an ingredient in many culinary recipes and home remedies, but it also helps keep spiders away.

In fact, the strong smell of white vinegar repels these arachnids as well as other insects such as mosquitoes and ants.

All you need to do to make your natural white vinegar repellent is mix one part white vinegar with two parts water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray different areas of your home.

MINT ESSENTIAL OIL

Insects in general, and spiders in particular, hate the smell of mint. So turn it into a repellent to keep these arachnids away from your house.

In a spray bottle, mix 8 drops of peppermint essential oil with a little water. Shake well and then spray the corners of your home.

Warning:   prefer to scatter mint leaves everywhere if you have a pet. Essential oils can be harmful, especially to cats.

THE CHESTNUT TREES

Chestnut trees are powerful repellents, as they release substances that arachnids cannot tolerate. Place chestnut branches around the edges of your windows to prevent them from entering your home.

You can also prepare a repellent by mixing chestnut leaves, chestnuts and their bark.   Immerse all these ingredients in a pot of boiling water, let them infuse and then cool them for a few minutes, before spraying your house with this mixture.
